100 Words: Ceremony


he man presiding over the ceremony was asking for quiet in a room full of unwilling people. Eventually he got his wish and asked what new order of business had brought them together. An old, angry looking woman, with no fertility left in her organs, asked one hundred questions about the future. The crowd agreed with the questions, but let no answers fall from their amassed voices. The man, not waiting for silence, answered the woman this, “The future is now. And now. And now. And now…”

And so on.
